Bond and growth stages — how your creature evolves

In most games, growth comes from winning. Inkmon has nothing to win, so how to evolve your virtual pet here has exactly one answer: Bond, the meter that records that you kept showing up.

Bond only ever goes up. It is never spent, never lost, and never taken away — not when your creature is Unwell, not when you disappear for a month, not ever.

How Bond is earned

Source Bond
Each distinct care action +1, capped at +8 per day
Ending the day healthy (all four stats at 30 or above, sampled at 19:00) +5
Seven-day healthy streak daily bonus ×1.5
While Unwell 0

Notice the daily cap. Eight points is what a normal attentive day gives you, and no amount of extra tapping produces a ninth. Bond rewards showing up across days, not grinding within one. Without that cap, the optimal way to play would be a single ten-minute mashing session — the exact opposite of the habit this app is for.

An attentive player earns roughly 13 Bond a day: eight from actions, five from ending the day healthy.

The four stages

Stage Bond required Roughly
Hatchling 0 the moment it hatches
Youngling 60 ~5 days
Adult 200 ~2 weeks
Radiant 500 ~6 weeks

Six weeks to the final stage sounds long. It is meant to. This is the only long arc in a game with no score, and a reward you reach in a weekend isn't one you remember.

What actually changes at a stage

The art is regenerated from your original drawing. Not a palette swap, not a scale-up — the creature is redrawn, anchored to the same silhouette and colours, older and more developed.

It is still recognisably the thing you drew. That's the whole point: it changed because you looked after it, and both halves of that sentence have to be visibly true.

Each regeneration costs 1 Spark, the same as hatching. If you're out of Sparks, the stage still happens — you get a growth celebration with the art you already have, and you can regenerate it later whenever you like. A stage is never locked behind a purchase; only the new artwork waits.

Why Bond stops during Unwell

If two or more needs sit at zero for six straight hours, your creature becomes Unwell and Bond accrual stops until you fix it.

That is the entire penalty. No damage, no lost progress, no death. The cost of neglect in Inkmon is only ever pause, never loss — see the Unwell recovery guide for both ways out.

Practical answers

Can I speed up Bond? No. There is no purchase, no ad and no item that adds Bond. It is strictly a record of days you cared, which would be worthless if it were buyable.

Does petting count the same as feeding? Yes — each distinct care action is +1, up to eight. Doing five different things beats doing one thing five times.

Do I lose the streak if I miss one day? The seven-day streak multiplier resets, but your accumulated Bond does not move. You never go backwards.

Does a second creature split my Bond? No. Bond is per-creature. Each one you hatch grows on its own timeline.
